Water Wall 1999
Forty-five, revolving metal discs filled with silicone and dye. Each disc is lit from within and viewable from both sides of the wall. The imagery is derived from the old paper piano rolls used to operate a player piano.
Particle Wall 1999
Iridescent 4mm diameter marbles, set into a concrete staircase wall in the centre of the venue. The imagery is derived from an old piano roll of the Burt Bacharach and Hal David song Walk on By. I liked the idea that as you walked up the stairs, the imagery and the song’s title were both conceptually related to the physical act of movement within the venue.
