I run a limited series of workshops each year for all ages, across a wide range of platforms and demographics, for primary, secondary, higher education, inset, mentoring and professional groups. The pursuit of ideas is the unifying factor, age is irrelevant. I’m interested in the concept of continuous education, situations that excite, intrigue and challenge in equal measure. I view workshops as a springboard for individual expression, a stalking horse for creativity. An opportunity for participants to develop their ideas within a supportive yet challenging environment. Critique and group discussion are important components of all courses, as is the development of original solutions and outcomes in relation to the core aims of the workshop. Emphasis is placed on the investigation and research of personal imagery and the development of a related technical language, generating ideas that can be developed at a later stage in your own studio, classroom or workplace. The overriding ethos is one of vulnerability, it’s always been my belief that interesting artists take risks.
In art, truth and reality start at the point when you no longer understand what you are doing or what you know, Matisse.
